June 2014 Community Picnic

Residents spill out onto the green to find their perfect picnic spot.

On Saturday 15 June 2014, hundreds of local Fiveways residents braved the severe gale to enjoy a day in Blakers Park. There were sheep, firemen, cake (lots!), a diverse set list of musicians and wonderful people.

Thank You’s

A heartfelt thank you to all the incredibly generous individuals and organisations without whom the picnic simply couldn’t go ahead. They generously donated their time, energy and enthusiasm, supported us with their services or made a donation in the run up to this year’s picnic and deserve to be publicly thanked. They include:

  • Brighton and Hove Council who awarded us a grant of £750, without which the picnic possibly would not happen.
  • Nick, Cliff and Symond who provided their technical expertise for our sound, stage and lighting. Also Simon Bottrell at 7Creative for designing the poster and Duncan Blinkhorn from Friends of William Clarke Park for lending us equipment and being so incredibly supportive. Plus all our lovely volunteers who stepped forward on the day to run the children’s games. Morgan Carn who printed some rather fine posters and Hummingbird Studio who loaned us some easels.
  • Others to thank include Beaumonts Estate Agents, Savery Books, Fiveways Fruits, WigWam Toys, The Cleveland, David & Co, Barfields, Living at Fiveways, The Eleventh Flower, Quaff, Soul Sister, Artroom Brighton, Lark on Lowther and Preston Insurance Brokers all of whom donated some wonderful raffle prizes.
